A model for polarons in a 3D, helical, DNA model is presented. Polarons can have three different movability regimes: radial, twist and mixed, with different velocity and participation number. The twist regime being more robust with respect to disorder but slower. Radial polarons are either reflected of trapped by an inhomogeneity, while twist ones can travel across it,
